  7. Please remember that this is a pre-release beta test version, and that
  8. it is possible that some of the new features in this version will not be
  9. included in the final release.

  11. The main new features in WinZip 7.0 are:
  12.  
  13. - Support for Microsoft's CAB (cabinet) format, including most
  14.   self-extracting CAB files.
  15.  
  16. - Sizable, sortable, and selectable columns in the main window.  The
  17.   optional attribute and CRC columns are new.  Columns can be resized
  18.   with the mouse, and turned off from the Configuration | View dialog
  19.   box.  Just click on a column header to sort.
  20.  
  21. - A configurable toolbar with 21 toolbar buttons.  (Note:  toolbar
  22.   configuration requires version 4.71 or later of the Windows Common
  23.   Control library.  This library is part of Windows 98, Microsoft
  24.   Internet Explorer 4.0, and is available as a separate download from:
  25.   http://www.microsoft.com/msdn/downloads/files/40Comupd.htm.)

  27. - Optional support for the Internet Explorer 4.0-style "one click open"
  28.   interface.  If this option is enabled in Internet Explorer 4.0 Active
  29.   Desktop, it will be enabled in WinZip automatically.  Otherwise, you
  30.   can turn it on using the Configuration | View dialog box.

  32. - Command line support is implemented via wzzip.exe and wzunzip.exe.

  34. - A print facility to print the information listed in the main WinZip
  35.   window.

  37. - Improved configuration using a tabbed dialog box.

  45. - WinZip Self-Extractor Personal Edition (included with WinZip) now

  50. - WinZip now uses the registry instead of winzip32.ini.  The first time
  51.   you run this version, it will copy all the ini entries to the
  52.   registry, and from then on will use the registry.  The registry key
  53.   used is HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Nico Mak Computing/WinZip.

  55. - Message boxes now have a help button instead of the "Please press F1
  56.   for help" text.

  58. - Wizard has a Help button.
  59.  
  60. - Replaced Actions->Deselect All with Actions->Invert Selection.

  62. - Non-standard accelerators now use Shift+key instead of Ctrl+key.

  64. - Added ARJ 2.60 long filename support (due to limitations in ARJ 2.60,
  65.   this feature is not available under Windows NT).

  67. - Status bar and main window now use the same fonts as the Explorer (to
  68.   change the font used in the main WinZip window and the Explorer, open
  69.   Start->Settings->Control Panel->Display, then select "Icon" as the
  70.   item in the "Appearances" tab)

  72. - Added "System Info" button to About box.  If you encounter WinZip
  73.   related problems that you believe are system or configuration
  74.   dependant, please click this button, then click the "Clipboard Copy"
  75.   button, and paste the results into an e-mail describing the problem.

  77. - If you select the "move" operation in the "Add" or "Drop" dialog
  78.   boxes, WinZip will put files into the recycle bin instead of deleting
  79.   them (you can override this behavior via the Configuration | Misc
  80.   dialog box).

  82. - Added "File Properties" dialog, available by right clicking on a file
  83.   in the zip, then selecting Properties.  This dialog box is useful if
  84.   you are not displaying all the columns and want info on a column that
  85.   is not displayed.  Note that unless the "Full row select" option in
  86.   the Configuration | View dialog box is checked, if you right click in
  87.   the list of files but not on the filename, the Properties dialog box
  88.   displays information about the archive.
